Honored to have subbed with the NY Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra last month.

Friday’s concert with the New York Pops featured

Friday’s concert with the New York Pops featured Montego Glover and Lee Musiker (playing Rhapsody In Blue). They were both spectacular. Lee’s adaptation of the Gershwin was otherworldly. Such a treat to sit back and listen to them both!

I’m very pleased to mention that on February 10,

I’m very pleased to mention that on February 10, 2023 our new recording, “Sides” from the Tony Kadleck Big Band will be released on Marshall Gilkes’ Alternate Side Records label. Recorded in late 2018, it features nine of my arrangements of jazz/pop favorites played by some of NYC’s finest: Jon Gordon, Aaron Heick, David Mann, Jason Rigby, Charles Pillow, Andy Snitzer, Ada Rovatti, Dave Riekenberg, Greg Riley, Greg Gisbert, Jon Owens, Mike Rodriguez, Marvin Stamm, Dylan Schwab, Michael Davis, Keith O’Quinn, Alan Ferber, Marshall Gilkes, John Wheeler, Bruce Eidem, Randy Andos, Jennifer Wharton, Pete McCann, Mike Holober, Henry Hey, David Finck, Jared Schonig, Meyer Horn, Paul Hannah, Hiroko Taguchi, Entcho Todorov, Sean Carney, Whitney Lagrange, Monica Davis, Todd Low, Sarah Seiver, Alisa Horn, Pete Donovan, Shelagh Abate, and Janet Axelrod. The project was produced by John Fedchock and recorded/mixed by Roy Hendrickson. I’m so proud of the outcome, and am honored to have played with these musicians. I think Ian Donald’s photos and design are spectacular, and worth the price of the CD, even if you’ve already thrown your CD player in the recycling bin.
To celebrate, the band will be playing at Birdland (315 W. 44th St. NYC) on SUNDAY, JANUARY 29 from 5:30-7pm. The stage is much smaller than the band, so we will be represented by Matt Clohsey, Michael Davis, Marshall Gilkes, Jon Gordon, Mike Holober, David Mann, Nadje Noordhuis, Keith O'Quinn, Jon Owens, Charles Pillow, Dave Riekenberg, Greg Riley, Mike Rodriguez, Jack Schatz, Jared Schonig, Dylan Schwab, and special guest Marvin Stamm.
CD’s will be available at this gig, in advance of the official release. We hope to present another concert after the release date at a venue that can accommodate everyone, including the strings.
So please come out and join us! We won’t be upset if you discreetly check the football score during our set (plus, you’ll make it home in time for the ending of the AFC game).
